After the first Microsoft sign-in is complete, activate Microsoft 365 apps on the Mac so Word, Excel, and the rest of the suite can edit and save files.

In order to edit and save .docx and .xlsx files, you will need to licence your Microsoft apps.

After signing into Microsoft for the first time, you are now ready to do this.

Fortunately, you only need to do this on 1 app and all others will be licensed. 

Sign-in To Your Microsoft Apps

  • Open any Microsoft 365 app (e.g. Microsoft Word) from the Applications folder. Click on “Already have a subscription? Sign in”

  • Enter your company email and the new password you have updated earlier. Then click “Sign in”

  • You will briefly see “Looking for Licences” and then “Activating”

  • Click through some due-diligence pages and then you should be ready to use a licensed Microsoft app!
